Photographer: Yuko Sudo

Ed Dougal is a member of the Des Plaines Art Guild. He studied printmaking with Art Institute's Alexis Petroff, using a water-base, gouache medium on linoleum, wood, and plastic blocks. He has extended the techiques of relief printmaking to include new types of blocks and to add rich pastels to printed surface. Further experimentation by adding pastels to monoprints has resulted in new designs and color combinations. All pieces shown are on 24" x 36" acid-free, 80-weight paper.

The black prints of Japanese Characters are printed with black ink in a water-base vehicle. Ed's wife Keiko, a kimono-dressing teacher, advised him on structure of the characters.
